While I naturally felt inclined towards Fine Art, owing in part to my background in painting and drawing, I found I had very little affinity for most of the other subjects. Textiles was something I enjoyed due to my experiences in the past with childhood cross-stitches, but what most surprised me was how strongly I felt drawn to 3D Design, in particular the area of sculpture.
This led to a second-year specialism of 3D Design, despite the fact I also took Fine Art for the first part of the year; I found myself enjoying the approach to 3D far more than that of Fine Art. My work is very much process-driven - generally I'll have an idea I'd like to actualize, and the most enjoyable aspect of the work is seeing if my idea is actually possible to create in a physical sense. The idea of experimenting with materials until an effect is achievable is what really inspires me and drives me as an artist.
I feel like even though my background as a painter and draughtsman has influenced my work in 3D, the opposite is also true; I moved into the area of 3D Design initially as I wanted as wide a skill set as possible, so that my ideas - fine art ideas - would be workable in as many forms as possible. I am constantly striving to learn new things, because I would hate to have a powerful idea and be unable to create it.
This approach has led to my current position of studying Fine Art Sculpture at Wimbledon College of Art, UAL. I am in my first year of my BA and looking forward to maturing even more as a practictioner.

Below I have started to compile my completed 3D Design works to date; some are accompanied by links to posts where I have discussed them in deeper detail.
